It was always Deki! Congratulations to Hideki Matsuyama for taking down the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Deki posted a score of -17 to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship. It seemed like it was going to be a runaway, and then in a blink of an eye, we see a 3-way tie with only a few holes left to play. Hovland gave himself a chance on 18 to post -16, but he missed a 9-footer. Xander almost chipped in on 18 as well to post -16. It would not have mattered anyways, since Deki went birdie, birdie on 17 & 18, to seal his 10th PGA tour victory. What a crazy last few weeks for Deki, as he won the bronze medal in Paris, and then on as his way to the United States, he was robbed at the airport. His caddy and coaches passport were stolen, so they were not able to be in attendance. He has overcome adversity before, and we could have not asked for more well deserving winner this past weekend. Congratulations Deki!
The second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is here! The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup race are set to play at a new course this year, Castle Pines Golf Club. Located in Douglas County, Colorado, this golf course is the longest course in PGA Tour’s history being 8,130 yards. It should be very interesting to see how the players are able to adapt this week. We have potential thunderstorms on Thursday & Friday, hopefully they miss, and the players are able to complete all 4 rounds without issue. We’re one week away from the Tour Championship, where the top 30 players will be competing to become the 2024 FedEx Cup Champion. Who’s going to take down the BMW Championship?
Sam Burns (+2500) played some excellent golf last week. He has been playing some exquisite golf the past three months, and has not recorded a win this year. Look for Burns to be right in the mix come Sunday. With this course being so long, we would think the bombers will have more of an advantage. Best of luck to everyone this week!
Outright:
Rory McIlroy +1200
Sam Burns +3000
Cameron Young +5000
Matthew Fitzpatrick +6000
Will Zalatoris +7500
Top 10:
Taylor Pendrith +400
Top 20:
Sepp Straka +150
First Round Leader:
Cam Davis +5000
