PGA Championship 2022

MAJOR WEEK #2! Doesn't get better than a major championship in golf. I got a real good feeling for what's in store this week boys, we are in for a great 4 days of golf and another all out test for these guys. Sad to see Mickelson not in the field to defend what might have been the best major all year last year but I have a sneaky feeling this week will live up to last year.
This week we head to Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the first time since 2007, where of course, none other than Tiger won the PGA Championship that year. Lots of talk about the runoffs on and around the greens this week so a heavy emphasis on approach game and scrambling will be key. Part of Mr. Gil Hanse's restoration process in 2018 widened the fairways, but according to the man himself, that did not make it any easier. The firm greens and fairways will create interesting runoffs into bunkers as well, Poults happened to post a pic of the gravel bunkers which will cause some unusual lies and inconsistency in shots for these pro's. Shots won't have the normal spin out of bunkers due to gravel/stones getting in between the ball and grooves of wedges. It will reward strategic play off the tee and if tees are pushed back as the week progresses, we could see bombers take advantage if they can control the big stick. Only two par 5's this week which will play beastly, both over 600 yards, seven par 4's playing over 450 including one to play to 500 yards, along with three par 3's playing over 200. If the wind cooperates like the tour wants it to, we should be in store for a single digit winning score week (hopefully).
Here's who the Kickback Team is eyeing this week:
Big Dog - Two time PGA winner, looking for that elusive major since 2014 in the dark. Can he add #5 to the trophy case? Rory McIlory
Booy & Forty - He's been right there all year just hasn't closed the door since the 2021 Players, last and only major was the 2017 PGA, is it time for another? Justin Thomas
Chuckie - The hottest golfer on the planet right now, can he get it done again to take both majors to start the 2022 year? Scottie Scheffler
Code E & Nado - Time for the career grand slam? The play has been trending in the right direction with a recent win at the RBC and a strong finish in Texas. Jordan Spieth
Commish - The man, The myth, The mullet - Cam Smith
D Mannetti - It feels as if this man is flying under the radar this week? How? Last time we saw him he grabbed a win in Mexico. Time for his second major? Jon Rahm
Duke - Hometown Stillwater boy, lot of orange and GO POKES out there in the gallery this week I'm hearing. Can he get it done in front of the hometown crowd? Viktor Hovland
J64 - Coming off the big marriage, two 2nd place finishes in his PGA history and a screw job in 2010 at Whistling, is it finally his time for a 3rd major? Dustin Johnson
Uh-oh - Looking for his second major, with his only one coming at the 2021 Masters, the play has been there this year with a nice T-3 finish last week. Hideki Matsuyama
Think we're in for a great week of golf boys! I'm very excited, probably tune into a gross amount of this, I have high hopes the course plays tough, probably means it'll end up turning into a Mickey fest but I really hope not. I think the purse will be around $12M with the winner receiving a little over 2M.
Yours Truly,
The Kickback Team
